Welcome back to the Funding Insider Monthly Most Funded series, where we break down our top funded Kickstarter projects of the month to see what these players have gotten right.

1. Phrozen Arco 3D Printer

Amount Funded: +1.7 million USD

Coming in at the top of our list of most funded Kickstarter projects is the Phrozen 3D printer. With over 1,600 backers and millions of dollars in funding, this campaign has certainly caught our attention—and for good reason.

Phrozen, the company behind this amazing printer, has successfully funded 2 3D printer projects before, each of which has surpassed its funding goals by over 1,000%. This track record of successful campaigns shows new backers that the company is good for their word, and also allows Phrozen to tap into its backers from previous projects for even more support.

Phrozen has also made it clear that they’ve done their homework. When you scroll down on the Acro 3D printer Kickstarter page, you see the important stats of this printer right away.

No matter what kind of Kickstarter project you launch, it’s important that you know your industry and that you’re aware of what consumers are looking for. Posting these specs at the very top of the page was a smart choice by Phrozen that clearly worked well in their favor and undoubtedly contributed to their success.

2. MIGO Ascender

Amount Raised: +1.7 million USD

The MIGO Ascender is a great idea combined with great execution. A Roomba that climbs stairs? It’s no wonder that this product has already raised over 1.7 million dollars on MIGO’s first-ever Kickstarter campaign.

Roombas are ubiquitous enough that we’ve all experienced them and their shortcomings. Enter the MIGO Ascender: an automatic vacuum cleaner that not only ascends surfaces but is also a smarter and more efficient alternative to a Roomba.

One brilliant strategy from the MIGO team was to pin a comment from the founder at the top of the comments section.

The comments section can often be embarrassing for a campaign, as backers can leave questions or rude comments that a campaign may not be prepared to answer. Some backers even withdraw their support after receiving an answer to their questions. These interactions do not drive confidence in the Kickstarter project and can even convince prospective backers not to support the project. But having a confidence-instilling comment from the founder pinned at the top keeps the most important and beneficial comment at the point of most visibility. This is a simple and effective strategy that any creator can implement to drive conversions.

3. AnkerWork S600 Speakerphone

Amount Raised: +190K USD

This Kickstarter project from Ontario, CA has caught our eye. An attachable speakerphone for your smartphone, AnkerWork S600 comes with all kinds of features, including noise suppression, user voice recognition, and a built-in phone stand.

Everyone has a smartphone, and that’s one reason why the AnkerWork S600 is doing so well. We all have experience using a phone, and increasingly, we’ve all experienced video phone calls with our bosses and clients. In short, anyone on Kickstarter would see the value in this project, compared to a more niche industry like 3D printing.

One strategy this campaign uses to its advantage well is the way it leverages social trust with reviews. The AnkerWork S600 has 3 different YouTube influencer reviews that they not only embed in video form within the page, but also quote with static images.

Without social trust, people are more likely to find suspicious elements of your campaign and withdraw their support. An influencer review then becomes a great way to earn some much-needed trust and ultimately increase the number of backings to your project.

4. ZEST UP Ropeless Battle Ropes

Amount Raised: +185,000 USD

ROPELESS battle ropes? That’s a pretty wild and interesting idea and the main reason we’re following this project. It’s one of those “aha!” ideas that once you hear it, you know you’ve got something special.

The name of this product speaks for itself. They’re battle ropes—but without the ropes! Fitness products tend to do well on Kickstarter, so the ZEST UP team made a wise decision to host their campaign on Kickstarter instead of a platform like Indiegogo. You can tell from the campaign images that ZEST UP is really leaning into the fitness and CrossFit aesthetic to make their product more appealing.

Like Ankerwork, ZEST UP also uses influencer reviews to help build social credit. But they also include data on how the ZEST UP battle ropes activates the muscle compared to alternative products. When working with a fitness product, this type of data is essential and highly effective.

There’s also videos on how to use and workout with the battle ropes, letting workout enthusiasts feel confident in their backing.

All of these strategies combine for a convincing product page that appeals to consumers in the intended market. We’ll definitely keep an eye out on ZEST UP to see which milestone their campaign surpasses next.

That’s all for this month’s most funded Kickstarter projects. We’ll be back soon with another breakdown of successful campaigns and what strategies brought them to surpass their funding foals. Until then, happy funding!
